Mind Vs Heart

When the mind says it's time to let go, But the heart whispers, "Let's try once more." Who do you listen to? You know the mind is right, But the heart says it's ready for yet another fight. Even if in the end, nothing is alright, It finds solace in knowing, at least it tried.

It knows if it doesn't work out, it will break into pieces, You will be nothing more than another poet's thesis. The heart understands the mind only wants to protect it, But couldn't it just hold its thoughts for a bit?

The heart thinks that love can't be finished just like that, But the mind knows it was never meant to be since the moment you met. All the moments that the heart misread, Mind knew one day it would bleed.

If it were truly love, it wouldn't cause you such pain, Yet the heart danced heedless, soaked in love's rain. Soon the storm came, fierce and unkind, And the mind's warnings echoed in its mind.

As the storm raged on, the mind's doubts prevailed, Its words fierce, "I told you so," it exhaled. But the heart, undeterred, smiled and softly spoke, "For love's sake, I'd do it all over again."
